I created this work with inspiration from randomness. The first visual experience the viewers see would likely be the cog-like wheel, the color-shifting diamond shape in the center of the wheel and the wave along the border of the painting. However, those imagery are common in today's daily experience, what bring depth to the piece is the random appreance of various rectangle shapes in the background--build ontop of one another, they give off the feeling of being pushed into the background, thus creating a visual effect of the painting moving forward.
This is my simpler work. It is my personal take on a common movie technique.
In this digital work, I created an image of a retro wall clock. I decided to forgo the pendulum--which is a signature of this kind of clock--to implement a more modern touch with heliocentric solar system; I debated if I should have done the whole solar system, but the size of the piece doesn't quite allow for it.
The first inspiration I got for this program was to create a brush that imitate the drip technique by Jackson Pollock and Van Gogh's Starry Night However, when the Drip Brush came to be, it gave a much more upbeat vibe than I intended--I was genuinely surprised by the result. Aside from these random-centric-brushes, I created some drawing brushes that imitate a more analog approach to drawing, such as pencil, pen and eraser. I intend to create three brushes that utilize the RGB mix of color. Hopefully it will bring genuine surprise and faithful to computer's drawing style.
